Mr. B.S. Abdur Rahman the son of Buhari Aalim and Yousuf Zulaikha was born in Kilakarai at Ramanathapuram District, Tamilnadu, India on 15th October 1927. He completed his Secondary School Level from Schwartz School, Ramanathapuram & Hameedia High School, Kilakarai. He is blessed with four sons and two daughters.
 
Profession:
He is a Chairman of East Coast Constructions & Industries Pvt. Ltd, West Asia Exports & Imports Pvt. Ltd, West Asia Maritime Ltd., Buharia Group, Amana Investments Ltd, HongKong, & Transcar India, and Executive Vice-Chairman of the ETA Ascon Group, Dubai, UAE. He is also the Vice-Chairman of Coal & Oil LLC & Coastal Energy Ltd.
 
Social Activities (Education):
He founded the Seethakathi Trust, All India Islamic Foundation, Islamic Studies & Cultural Centre, United Economic Forum & B.S.Abdur Rahman Zakat Foundation Trust.
 
The schools and colleges which were started by him are the Crescent School for Boys at Vandalur, Crescent School for Girls at Chennai, Nagore and Madurai respectively. He also started the Yousuf Zulaikha School of Nursing at Madurai, BSA Crescent Engineering College, Vandalur, TBAK College, Kilakarai, KBA Arabic College, Vandalur, Crescent College of Education and Crescent Teacher Training Institute exclusively for Women.
 
He also started the Crescent Career Guidance and Coaching centre to train the students for the Competitive Examinations and a research centre, Islamic Studies & Culture Centre with library facilities at Chennai.
 
He has also provided financial aids to the various schools and colleges throughout India. He has provided aid to around 14 schools, 4 Training Institutes and Polytechnics in the state of Tamilnadu and 11 colleges in Tamilnadu and Uttar Pradesh. Also he has also aided Bazme Niswan Charitable Trust, Bangalore, Cancer Care Trust & Research Foundation, Indore, Indian Publications Ltd, New Delhi.
 
Social Activities (Medical):
He has aided the hospitals at Ramnad, Tanjavur and Madurai. He donated the X-ray unit to the Govt. Hospital Kilakarai. Provided financial aid to the Primary Health Centre, Velanoor. He also provided motivation the Shifa Hospital, Tanjavur, KMT Hospital Kayalpattinam and Crescent Hospital, Chennai.
 
Rural Development: Youth Welfare
He constructed and donated a stadium with all facilities for indoor and outdoor games at Ramanathapuram. He also contributed Rs.20 lakhs for construction of a swimming pool at Ramnad District.
 
Rural Development: Insfrastructure
He also provided an interest free loan of Rs.75 Lakhs to the Govt. of Tamilnadu towards the laying of a road between Ramnad and Kilakarai in 1995.
 
Rural Development: Home for the needy
He has founded around 6 orphanages in Ramathapuram, Thanjavur, Madurai and Chennai. He also provided financial aids to various orphanages in Tirunelveli, Madurai, Erode and Gingee.
 
National Service through Journalism
“Nation and the World” is a bi-monthly magazine in English published from New Delhi.  Alhaj B.S. Abdur Rahman strains every nerve to boost its sale as this magazine is his contribution to the national print media.  The magazine espouses the cause of national greatness in a world friendly to India.
 
Awards & Recognition
 In recognition of his yeomen service to the elevating and emancipating cause of education, the Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union conferred on Alhaj B.S. Abdur Rahman Honorary Life Membership.
 
He has been awarded Doctorate on January 17, 2005 by the Sathyabama Institute of Technology, a Deemed University for the cause of women’s education especially to the minority community.
